  • The critical foundation for a child's growth and learning is built early.

  • Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher.

  • All of us can contribute to make sure that all our children get a good start.
Build New Jersey is a partnership of public and private organizations working together to strengthen early learning opportunities for young children. Our mission is to ensure that every infant and young child in New Jersey has good quality, enriching early learning opportunities. Ten other states are also participating in this national project.
The Build partners recognize that a child grows in ways that build on each other—cognitive, physical, and social emotional development are threads that make up the whole fabric of human development. The Build goals support this perspective.  With the help of many partners around the state, the Build Core Team has developed a two year agenda that represents the next steps toward making health, safety and learning a priority for every young child. The issues are common sense—making public preschool more available and improving infant child care services, for example. If you want further information, click one of the topics listed at the top. Statewide campaigns have been launched on some of these issues. Even if you have time for only a letter or a phone call, we would welcome you to join us—click here.

Build New Jersey is funded by the Early Childhood Funders’ Collaborative, a consortium of national and local funders that have a substantial grant making programs in early childhood care and education.
