History of the World Series
Baseball World Series Championship is an annual event for the championship title for the preceding MLB season. The two best teams from each division, the American and National leagues. Phillies Tickets are always available from season ticket holders. World Series of Baseball is for sure the premier historic sporting events in the USA, the first game was in 1903. In its 108 years of competition, The Baseball World Series has had several MLB franchises win far more titles than the rest.
For the record The Oakland A’s, who previously played in Philadelphia and Kansas City, have the 3rd most Championship titles of all time. The Athletics have been to the Baseball Championship as the American League winners 16 times and won the World Series 9 times. The A’s most recently won the title in 1989 when they were guided by Rickey Henderson and Jose Conseco. The teams most historic World Series run came between 1972 and 1974 when they dominated for three consecutive years. The teams in this era depended predominantly on outfielder Reggie – Mr October – Jackson and Hall of Fame Pitchers {Catfish Hunter and Vida Blue|Vida Blue and James Augustus Catfish Hunter.
The New York Yankees, who represent the American League, have competed in the Baseball World Series 40 times and have walked away with the title 26 times. Both the New York Yankees and the Oakland Athletics have won the most in MLB history. New York Yankees have been an extremely successful team and franchise the teams history, their longest run for an incredible 45 year stretch from 1920 through 1964. In this time period the Yankees went to the World Series r record 29 times and won 20. During this time, several of the Hall of Fame MLB baseball players of all time competed on the Yankees, including Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth. New York Yankees most recently won the World Series in 2009 when they were led by Alex Rodriquez and Derek Jeter.
Closest to the New York Yankees, the most accomplished team in World Series Championship history is the St Louis Cardinals. The St Louis Cardinals, who compete in the National League, have made it to the Title Game 17 times and have won the title 10 times. The Cardinals previously won the World Series in 2006 when Albert Pujols and Scott Rolens led the team. The Cardinals had an impressive run of success between 1926 and 1934 when they went to the series 5 times winning 3. World Series History is incredible and between 1942 and 1946 the Cardinals took home another three titles when Stan Musial was the leader of the team. Can the Cardinals do it again against the Rangers in 2011?
